Animals available for adoption through Wasatch Humane are "rescued" from animal control organizations. Some of our animals are housed in volunteer foster homes, while others are housed at our very small adoptions center in Bountiful, UT. We can accept pets released to us by their owners under circumstances that qualify under our charter. Our adoption coordinator makes those decisions on a case-by-case basis. We do not accept "stray" pets under any circumstances. Such animals must be taken to an animal control facility where they have the best chance of being re-united with their owners.

Our adoptable animals are advertized on the web via the Pet-ark database. Please follow these links for animals available for adoption. Once you find an animal you are interested in, email our adoptions coordinator or call 801-299-8508 to find out where the animal will be on our next adoption day. Then go to that adoption day and meet your prospective new pet.

Animals that are housed at our adoptions facility can usually be seen during the week. However, those animals housed in volunteer foster homes typically cannot be visited during the week. Our foster homes are gracious volunteers and we promise not to intrude on their daily lives. They bring their fosterlings in for scheduled adoption events.

Most of our adoption days are hosted by area PetSmart stores and the Petco store in Orem. We also participate in super-adoptathons that are held regularly in the Salt Lake area.

To adopt an animal you will have to complete an application form and pay a non-refundable adoption fee. Adoption fees are listed to the right. Our animals are spayed/neutered and microchipped, and receive the shots appropriate for their age. Your fee helps offset the cost of these procedures.

Please plan on spending some time to get to know your prospective new pet and then another 45 minutes to complete all necessary paperwork. We also recommend that you purchase all the necessary food and water dishes, leashes, food, toys, etc, prior to bringing your new pet home. You might want to invest in a book or two about how to help your new family member settle in and we definitely recommend you take your new dog to obedience school, even if you feel both you and the dog are "old hands" at training... there is always something new to learn, and your dog will bond with you better through organized training.

Our volunteers will help the adoption go as smoothly as possible. We hope the information on this page has been useful as you search for your new pet.
